Bo
iBOT Personal Mobility Device
Bo Bryant is a proud fourth-generation farmer who has lived his entire life in Adams, TN. He cherishes his close-knit family and enjoys spending time with friends doing activities like working on trucks, hunting, having campfires, playing corn hole, shooting skeet, and more. Bo’s favorite family activities are camping and boating, and he has spent nearly every summer weekend at the lake for the past decade.
On May 4, 2024, Bo’s life changed forever. What began as a typical Friday night with friends—playing pool, sitting by the fire, and listening to music—ended in tragedy when Bo and a buddy took his side-by-side for a ride and had a wreck, resulting in Bo being ejected.
Bo spent the next 18 days in the trauma unit at Skyline. He was on and off a ventilator until his right lung was strong enough to function independently, requiring a temporary tracheotomy. His injuries included a fractured shoulder blade, fractured eye socket, broken ribs on both sides, a concussion, fractured wrists, pneumothorax and hemothorax of the left lung, and a spinal break around T-5/T-6. Despite doctors finding a small thread still intact, Bo is considered to have a completely severed spinal cord. Statistically, he will never walk again, but Bo knows his God defies all odds.
Bo’s determination to continue his family’s farming legacy has been his main source of strength through his recovery. As the only child and the next in line to care for his family’s land, farming is all Bo has ever known and desired for his future. He is committed to maintaining this legacy, regardless of the challenges.
Currently, Bo is recovering and undergoing therapy at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA. Back home, his community is working hard to prepare for his return, including home renovations and making their farm office accessible for him.
American Mobility Project is honored to announce that Bo is receiving an equipment grant for an iBOT Personal Mobility Device. With the iBOT, Bo will gain independence and mobility both professionally and personally, and also help him live his life to the fullest. This device will enable him to scout crops, reach upper shelves in his closet, go hunting with friends, and be actively involved in the field with his work family.
